Baby Star

Saw this on an episode of Criminal Minds. It turns out this was an original poem/children's story written by the show's writers after they found it difficult to gain license to write in an actual bedtime story into their story line.

It was moving to me personally... for a lot of reasons.

Baby Star
Once there was a baby star.
He lived up near the sun.
And every night at bedtime that baby star wanted to have some fun.
He would shine and shine, fall and shoot and twinkle oh so bright.
He said “Mommy, I’ll run away if you make me say goodnight.”
And then his mommy kissed his sparkly nose and said,
“No matter where you go, no matter where you are.

No matter how big you grow and even if you stray far.
I’ll love you forever, because you’ll always be my baby star.”

  3. I love this so much! And I love Criminal Minds so much! Can't wait for tonight's episode. Who's your favorite? Dr. Reid is mine, and I am SO glad CM's writers are making him even more entertaining this season. Of course, sometimes Morgan is one of my tv boyfriends, too :)

  4. Huge Criminal Minds fan here!! Team Hotch for me all the way followed closely by Team Morgan! I was also touched by this book that I had to go looking for it to find that it was not real. I am so disapointed that it is not a real book. But like you I have found the poem/story and have managed also to find photos of the book they used. Criminal Minds is one of the best shows ever made and them making this book proves just how talented the people that work on the show really are.

  6. my son just return from Ft. Benning, Ga. as a Cav Scout. I always told him when he was little that I loved him to the moon and back. Nightly while he was at Benning I would look at the moon and wonder if he was watching it also. This poem reminds me of us.

  11. Of all the TV shows in the world, I heard this touching poem as it was read to a little boy at the end of Criminal Minds … in a midst of a world so filled with senseless violence, with minds dwelling in so much sinister evil and wickedness … it’s soooo reassuring to know that in the hearts of a few … Positive Love still lives and in the littlest of ways is still being past on to the innocent of hearts …
