Thursday Blurbs

Guess who is going to be the number one pick in the 2032 NBA Draft? Ha ha ha… Little (er, Junior) Yao! Yao Ming and his wife are expecting their first child in July 2010. Could be a girl… but no worries Yao’s wife is a Chinese National Team Basketball player too at 6’2”! Can’t wait to see this kid grow (and grow and grow) up.

Winter break was fantastic. Except for the overeating and lack of funds (on my part) of course. But never mind all that. The kids got lots of sleep, spent some time with their brother, friends and cousin and enjoyed their gifts. Even though they knew what most of them were going to be, they still enjoyed the day. We even played a round of Liverpool Rummey on New Year’s Day with Sergio and Tiffany. Even Juan played, a first! Sergio nailed us all but the game was fun and there were no tears!

We got to see Suhey on Christmas Eve as well. We took over some gifts for her and Deanna and spent a few hours with them. She is about to have her baby in just a few days. It is going to be a boy, Damien Alexander. Alex, of course, likes this very much and plans to call him “Alex.” Suhey told him that the nickname for Alexander in Russian (her husband Vladimir’s family is Russian) is “Sasha,” and to not be surprised if that is what he is called. I’m thinking that will not deter Alex in the least.

Going back to school was hard. For me, not the kids. They were fine. I turned my alarm off and fell back asleep for 26 minutes on Monday morning. I woke up in a panic… and they were rushed but not late to school. I came home after dropping them off and slept for two more hours. Shhh. Don’t tell anyone.

Nico is getting worse. He has peed under the kitchen table (or near the couch, or near the tv, or in front of the refrigerator) every day for the last 3 weeks strait. I am running out of wipes and bleach. This morning I came out to make coffe and was so relieved to not find pee pee anywhere! My joy was somewhat shortlived, however, when Jacob announced that there was dog pee on his backpack. Are you kidding me? UGH!

Hockey starts back up this week for Jacob after nearly 3 weeks off. He cannot wait. He is so excited for practice on Friday and, not for the reasons one would think. I thought he was excited to get back after not playing for so long, or maybe to see his teammates again or just to get back on the ice. But? No. He is excited for practice so he can try out his new “protective cup” that he got for Christmas. **Sigh**

Things I Know For Sure Wednesday

I know for sure that today is Wednesday.

I know for sure that there are things that I absolutely know for sure.

I know for sure that today (in addition to being Wednesday) is Garbage day.

I know for sure (also in addition to it being Wednesday and Garbage day) that it is an absolutely gorgeous day outside and that I must get out to enjoy it before the coldness comes back.

I know for sure that my PG&E bill was over $300 last month.

I know for sure how much that sucks and wish I didn't have to pay to keep my house warm.

I know for sure that there will not be a blizzard, snow or below freezing temperatures, so I shouldn't complain.

I know for sure that none of my teams are in the (NFL) playoffs this year and that I will have to find someone to root for.

I know for sure it will not be:
a) Dallas (no comment)
b) Arizona (worst team in the playoffs, Niners beat them twice)
or
c) San Diego (as a courtesy to my Raider fan husband)

I know for sure it would be FANTASTIC if Brett Favre and the Vikings made it all the way. Maybe it will go for them.

I know for sure I will go for the Vikings.
